The 9th of October marks World Sight Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of good eye health. At Derbyshire Opticians, we’re proud to support World Sight Day and do our part in helping our community protect and prioritise their eye health.

Why World Sight Day matters

This global initiative reminds us of the importance of good eyecare. Many eye diseases develop silently and early detection through routine exams is the key to preserving vision. By coming together as a community, we can reduce preventable sight loss and support healthier eyes for everyone.

#LoveYourEyes

The Love Your Eyes campaign encourages everyone to take eyecare seriously. It highlights how vital eye health is, not just for personal wellbeing, but for education, employment, and quality of life across the world, and promotes eye care that is accessible, available, and affordable for all.

Eyecare at Derbyshire Opticians

At Derbyshire Opticians, we provide personalised eye care using the latest technology to ensure thorough and precise eye exams so we can offer the best advice and support for every patient.

Optical Coherence Tomography:

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive 3D eye scan that uses light waves to capture detailed images of the retina. It can help our optometrists detect early signs of common eye conditions, such as glaucoma and macular degeneration, and can track your eye health over time.

Fundus Camera Technology:

Fundus photography is an advanced imaging technique that uses a high-resolution camera to take detailed photos of the back of your eye. These images allow our Optometrists to identify any abnormalities or early signs of eye conditions such as drusen, scar tissue, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma.

Regular fundus photography provides a valuable timeline of your eye health, helping us monitor any changes over time and manage diagnosed conditions effectively.

What can you do this World Sight Day

This world sight day we encourage you to book a thorough eye examination, encourage friends and family to prioritise their eye care, and join the #LoveYourEyes campaign to raise awareness about the importance of regular eye exams for all.

Maintaining good eye health is essential at every stage of life. If it has been some time since your last comprehensive eye examination, or if you have experienced any changes in your vision, such as blurriness, difficulty focusing, or increased sensitivity to light, now is the ideal time to take action.

Book your eye exam today at one of your trusted local Derbyshire Opticians, whether that’s Lorraine Bonete Opticians, David Bray Opticians, or Bakewell Opticians. Our friendly teams are here to provide thorough, supportive eye care, helping you keep your vision clear for years to come.
