Retinal Screening
Fundus Photography at Derbyshire Opticians (not available at Bakewell Opticians)
Fundus photography is included as part of the Essential eye examination at Derbyshire Opticians.
The Retina and Optic Nerve
Fundus photography, or retinal screening is where the back of the eye is photographed with a high-tech camera producing an image of the optic nerve, retina and retinal blood vessels. These images can show any abnormalities and eye conditions such as drusen, scar tissue, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma.
Your Eye Health Timeline
Including regular retinal screening at your eye examinations provides our optometrists with a timeline of your eye health and can assist in the monitoring of diagnosed eye conditions.
We often use fundus photography in conjunction with OCT at our Matlock branch to provide our Optometrists with a more details view of your optic nerve and retina.
