Find The Right Glasses for Your Face Shape
Sometimes choosing a pair of glasses is easy if you know exactly what you are looking for, however if you don’t know what to choose and what styles will suit you, it can be a minefield.
There are so many different shapes, colours and materials of frames that choosing the perfect pair of glasses can be a difficult and lengthy process. Finding a frame that compliments your face shape is a good place to start, followed by design and colour choices. Here are a few of the most common face shapes and the glasses styles we would recommend.
Oval
Oval faces are well balanced, with your forehead slightly wider than your jaw and high cheekbones. For this face shape we would recommend large, oversized shapes like the retro inspired looks that have become increasingly popular. A cat-eye shape will compliment your features, and sides with details with define your face shape.
Square
A square face has a broad forehead, wide jawline, and square chin. Soften your features with a round, oval or cat-eye frame. Avoid selecting thin, angular, and square frames.
Round
Round faces have a wide forehead, with full cheeks and a rounded chin. Balance out your features with frames with a strong brow-line such as semi rimless and clubmaster styles. Sharp edges and angles are flattering, with cat-eye glasses adding length to your face.
Heart
The main features of a heart shaped face are a broad forehead, wide cheekbones narrowing to the chin. Rimless frames will soften your features, oval glasses don’t exaggerate your cheek bones and frames that are heavier at the top than the bottom add width to your face.
Diamond
Diamond faces are broad across the cheekbones and narrow at the eyes and jaw. Oval frames will soften your facial features, semi rimless frames will accentuate your eyes and soften your lower face. For men, try a rectangular metal frame to contrast your facial features.
Triangle
There are two types of a triangle face shape, a base up triangle or point up triangle. A base up triangle face shape has a broad forehead to a narrow chin. Frames that are wider at the bottom balance out the top of the face. A point up triangle face is wider at the bottom, so frames with a heavy bridge makes the top of the face look wider.
